The short answer: Sadia Anika Hasan makes short films about what Bangladeshi women wear and why. Sadia (@sadia.anika.hasan) reads clothes the way historians read letters. The Daily Star profiled her in June for exactly that: treating fashion as evidence of how a culture is changing rather than something to consume and scroll past. So when she turns that attention to what goes underneath, she notices the things most people are too polite to say out loud.

A body the chart was never drawn for
Most innerwear follows a blueprint set somewhere else. Our founder drew ours here, from thousands of fittings of Bangladeshi women: a deeper cup for the band, a wider and firmer band, straps set closer for narrower shoulders (a bra built for the Bengali body).

The base decides the rest
Her real argument is a styling one, and it is the reason a fit advisor exists at all: no amount of beautiful fabric on top can fall correctly over a base that does not fit. A band that has stopped holding takes the line with it by evening (why a bra sags by evening); a cup that is a size out shows at the side under a fitted kameez (show-through under a kameez). Get the base right and the kurti, the saree blouse, the georgette all hang the way they were cut to (under a thin kameez).
