What Happens at a SHAPE Fitting
Every SHAPE fitting is free and private, in our stores or on WhatsApp, and you never have to buy.
The short answer: a SHAPE fitting is a short, private conversation. A fit advisor asks what you wear now and what bothers you, takes two measurements with a soft tape, suggests a size and a style, and lets you try it on in a private trial room. It is free, there is no rush, and you can leave without buying anything.
If you have never been fitted, it is normal to feel shy about it. Many women tell us they put it off for years. So here is exactly what happens, so nothing surprises you.
The first minute: hello, and no pressure
Someone will greet you and let you look around. If it is your first time, just say so. Our advisors are trained to help without hovering, and to start with you, not with a product. You are welcome to bring your mother, sister or a friend.
The next few minutes: a few questions
Before anyone recommends anything, we ask. Usually something like:
- What are you looking for today: everyday, or a special occasion?
- What are you wearing now?
- What bothers you about it? Straps that dig, a band that rides up, a wire that pokes, lines under your clothes?
- Do you know your size? (It's completely fine if you don't. Most women don't.)
Your answers matter as much as your measurements. They tell us what the bra actually needs to fix.
Measuring: two numbers, explained first
Your fit advisor will explain what they are going to do before they do it. Then they take two measurements with a soft tape: your band (snug around your ribcage, just under your bust) and your bust (around the fullest part). It takes a couple of minutes.
Those numbers are checked against the SHAPE size chart, not another brand's. Charts differ from brand to brand, which is why so many women end up in the wrong size.
The recommendation: more than a number
Your size is only part of the answer. Your advisor puts together three things: your measurements, how each style is built, and what you said you need. That is why two women with the same numbers can leave with different bras.
The trial: a private room, and a 5-point check
You try the bra on in a private trial room. Your advisor can talk you through five checks:
- Band: snug, with room for two fingers. Not riding up.
- Cups: no gaping, no spilling.
- Straps: not digging, not slipping, once adjusted.
- Centre: flat against your chest.
- Comfort: you can move, breathe and lift your arms.
If it doesn't feel right, say so. Trying five bras is normal. Finding the right one matters more than finishing quickly.
The end: you leave knowing your size
Whether or not you buy, you leave knowing your size, which styles suit you, and how to care for them. That is the whole point.

How long does it take?
The measuring takes a few minutes. The trying on takes as long as you need. We don't rush fittings.
Can I bring someone with me?
Of course. Many women come with their mother, sister or a friend.
What if the bra doesn't feel right after I get home?
