Local or Imported? Why the Fit Differs
The short answer: an imported bra is drafted for the population its brand sells to most, and its chart assumes those proportions. SHAPE's chart and cuts were drafted here, by our founder, from thousands of fittings of Bangladeshi women. That changes three things: the cup is deeper for the band, the band is wider and firmer, and the straps are set for narrower shoulders. It is not that imported bras are bad. It is that they were not measured on you.
"What works for you won't work for five other people, because we have a very unique structure as Bengali women." That is our founder, on why she started. In our survey, 35 percent of women had bought bras abroad, India most often. Most came back with a size that fit at the band and failed at the cup.
Three things a chart from elsewhere gets wrong here
- Cup for the band. Many Bengali women carry a fuller bust on a leaner ribcage. A chart that expects a 36 band to come with a B cup will hand you a bra that grips the ribs and spills at the side. Ours expects the D on the 34 (a bra built for the Bengali body).
- The band. Fifteen-hour days, heat, and a kameez that shows every line: the band needs to be wide, flat and firm without a wire. A narrow imported band digs by afternoon; a wire that does not sit exactly right digs into breast tissue (why most SHAPE bras have no wire).
- The straps. Set for wider shoulders, imported straps slide; set closer, they stay. Small change, whole day.
What "made for the Bengali body" actually means
- The chart. Our size chart and the method behind it come from fittings here, not a licensed table. That is why it does not match an imported brand's, and is not supposed to.
- The fabric. Nylon-spandex that absorbs sweat and dries fast, chosen for humidity, not for a temperate autumn (bras for Dhaka heat).
- The shades. Coffee as the first "nude", because on most skin here beige shows (how to pick your shade).
- The sizes. M to 3XL on the everyday styles, to 5XL on two, inside the same bras, not a separate rack (bras in 3XL, 4XL and 5XL).
Where imported still wins, honestly
Lace and occasion pieces, and true band-and-cup sizing above a G cup, where our range is still thin. If that is what you need, we will say so in the fitting. For the everyday bra you wear six days a week under a kameez in Dhaka, the one drafted here fits better, and costs Tk 704 to 2,035 instead of a plane ticket.

Are your sizes the same as the imported brands'?
No, and on purpose. Convert the body, not the label (converting a foreign size).
Is "international quality" a real claim?
Judge it the way you would abroad: the fitting is free, the exchange is 7 days, and the fabric is the same across every style (the exchange policy).
Why does this matter so much to you?
