How Long Should a Bra Last?
The short answer: a bra worn most days keeps its stretch for six to nine months. With cold washing and no wringing, twelve. After that the band has loosened for good and no hook will bring it back. We would rather tell you that plainly than let you think your body changed when it was the elastic.
"Olpo din e loose hoye jay, egulo ki erokom hobe?" is one of the most common things women ask us before a first order. Fair question. Here is the honest answer, from our founder, and what it means for your drawer.
Why every bra loosens
The band is elastic. Elastic stretches a little every time it is worn and warmed, and recovers a little less each time. After roughly six months of daily wear the recovery stops keeping up. That is physics, not a fault, and it is true of a Tk 704 bra and a Tk 2,035 bra alike. The difference between a cheap bra that goes in weeks and a good one that holds for nine months is the quality of the elastic and the knit (what a seamless bra is).
The three signs it is done
- You are on the tightest hook and it still rides up. A new bra fits on the loosest hook; the tighter hooks are for the months after. When the tightest one is not enough, the band is finished (why a band rides up).
- The straps are doing the lifting. If you keep shortening the straps to get the lift back, the band has stopped holding (why a bra sags by evening).
- The cup has lost its shape. Pads that have creased, a cup that stays dented after the bra comes off, a knit that looks thin at the centre.
What shortens a bra's life
- Hot water. Heat breaks elastic faster than wear does. Cold or room-temperature water only.
- Wringing. Twisting the band to dry it, the way a towel is wrung, is the single fastest way to kill it. Press the water out in a towel instead (how to wash a bra).
- The same bra every day. Elastic recovers overnight. Two bras in rotation last longer than twice as long as one worn daily.
- The wrong size. A band worn too loose is stretched further on every wear; a band worn too tight is stressed all day. Right size, longer life (how to measure at home).
How to plan for it
Buy two of the bra you reach for most and alternate them. Note the month you bought them. At six months, run the five-sign fit test; if it still passes, keep going. At nine, expect to replace. The same is true of our seamless panties, for the same reason.

Is six months a fault I can exchange?
No. Exchanges are for fit, within 7 days of delivery, unworn and unwashed (the exchange policy). Six to nine months of daily wear is the normal life of a bra.
