Straps Showing Under a Sleeveless Kameez or Wide Neckline

Plunge Lite Bra in black, worn by a model, showing the strap position and low centre

The short answer: Match the bra to the neckline rather than trying to hide the bra you already have. Sleeveless wants a narrower strap set closer to your neck. A deep V wants Plunge Lite. An open back wants a strapless. And colour matters as much as cut: a shade close to your skin reads as skin.

You like the sleeveless kameez and you own one bra, so the strap shows and you either wear it anyway or you do not wear the kameez. Both are worse than the actual fix, which is knowing which two or three styles cover every neckline you own.

Neckline by neckline

Neckline What you need Style
Sleeveless, normal width Narrow strap, set closer in Un-Lined Bra
Wide or boat neck Straps positioned inward, not at the shoulder edge Seamless T-Shirt Bra
Deep V A low centre gore Plunge Lite
Open back or halter No straps at all Bare Skin Strapless Bra
Racerback Straps that cannot slide outward Easy Fit Sports Bra

On the strapless: it is the only one we make, and stock moves. Message us to check your size is available before you plan an outfit around it.

Colour does half the work

This is the part women skip. A strap that matches your skin tone reads as skin at a glance, even when it is visible. A black strap under a pale sleeveless kameez is a black line, every time.

Coffee outsells every other shade we make for exactly this reason, and maroon also disappears under white and cream. We do not call any colour nude.

Adjust before you buy

Two things to try with the bra you own, because they sometimes solve it for free.

Move the straps inward if the style allows, and tighten them slightly. Keep two fingers of room so they do not dig in.

Tighten the band. A loose band lets the whole bra ride up, which pushes the straps outward toward the shoulder edge where they show most. Around eighty per cent of support comes from the band, so this is worth doing regardless.

What not to do

Do not buy clear plastic straps. They are visible, they are uncomfortable in heat, and they slide. Do not safety-pin the strap to the kameez, which tears the fabric of both. And do not wear a strapless as an everyday solution: a strapless is for the outfit that needs it, because it relies entirely on the band and is less comfortable over fifteen hours.

Questions women ask us

Can I convert a normal bra to a strapless?

Some bras have detachable straps, but a bra designed with straps relies on them. A dedicated strapless has a firmer band because it has.

Which colour is safest under white?

Coffee or maroon. Both disappear. White under white is the combination that shows most, which surprises people.

My straps show and also slip. Related?

Yes, usually the same cause. A loose band pushes straps outward and lets them slide. Tighten the band first.

Do you have a strapless above XL?

The Bare Skin runs M to XL at present. Message us and we will tell you what is coming.
