Why We Ask for an Honest Review, Not a Positive One

A woman at the counter of SHAPE Lingerie Bashundhara City being helped by a fit advisor

The short answer: We ask for honest reviews rather than positive ones, and we mean it. Two lines about the store you visited or the bra you wore is enough. A critical review tells us something we can fix and tells the next woman something true, which is worth more to both of us than a compliment.

Most brands ask for five stars. We would rather have the review that says the Wari store was hard to find, or that a bra stretched out after four months, because those are the two things we can actually do something about.

What a useful review contains

Not much. The things that help the next woman are specific and small:

  • Which store you went to, and whether the fitting felt private.
  • Which bra you bought, and your size, if you are comfortable saying.
  • How it felt after a full day, not after five minutes in the shop.
  • Anything that went wrong.

“Good product” helps nobody. “The Sure Cover in L was still comfortable at 10pm” helps a lot of women decide.

Why we will not ask you for five stars

Two reasons, one principled and one practical.

The principled one: a wall of uniformly glowing reviews is not information, it is decoration. Women here have learned to see straight through it, and they are right to.

The practical one: a bra is worn for fifteen hours a day for six to nine months. If something is wrong with ours, we need to hear it from the women wearing them rather than discover it a year later in the sales numbers.

We also do not publish a star rating we have not earned and verified. If you have seen a rating on our site in the past, we have been removing claims we cannot stand behind.

Where to leave one

Google is the most useful place, because that is where women look before visiting a store. Search for the SHAPE store you visited and leave it there.

You can also reply to us on WhatsApp, or post in Girl Talk, our community of more than 51,000 women. If you would rather it was not public, message us directly; it still gets read and acted on.

What happens to a critical one

It goes to the person who owns that thing. A store comment goes to that store's team. A product comment goes into the product review with the sales and exchange data. An exchange or delivery complaint goes to the person running that process.

We will not argue with you in a review thread. If something went wrong we would rather fix it than defend it in public.

Questions women ask us

Will you take down a bad review?

No. We may reply to it, and we may contact you to fix the problem, but we do not ask for removals.

Do I get anything for leaving a review?

No, and that is deliberate. A review you were paid for is not a review.

Can I leave one if I did not buy anything?

Yes, and those are useful. If you came in for a fitting and left without buying, how that felt is exactly what we want to know.

What if my complaint is about an order?

Message us on WhatsApp first so we can actually fix it. Exchange within 7 days of delivery, unworn and unwashed. Exchange only, and panties are excluded. Online orders are not exchanged in stores.
