Store Associate
Runs one SHAPE store, leads its Fit Advisors, and is accountable for its commercial results.
Full-time, at one SHAPE store near where you live. SHAPE recruits Store Associates continuously, for stores currently trading and for stores opening.
The role
The job to be done
Run one SHAPE store so that it meets its revenue, conversion and average order value targets every month.
Lead the Fit Advisors on that store, and hold the relationship with the customers allocated to it.
Purpose
Why this role exists
Each SHAPE store is a self-contained commercial unit. Its results depend on the person who runs it day to day: how customers are received, how consultations are conducted, how the team performs, and whether customers return.
The Store Associate is the senior person at her store and is accountable for its performance.
The work
Responsibilities
Commercial performance
- Accountable for the store’s revenue, conversion rate and average order value
- Conduct fit consultations to the standard the store is held to
- Manage the fitting room queue during peak hours so that waiting times do not cost sales
- Ensure the matching or complementary item is offered with every bra sold
- Inform every customer of the 7-day exchange and the free consultation
Team leadership
- Build the weekly roster for the store’s Fit Advisors and arrange cover where required
- Conduct daily briefings, provide correction and recognition, and develop each Fit Advisor’s performance
- Train every new Fit Advisor assigned to the store, from first shift to independent floor responsibility
- Allocate customer messaging work to Fit Advisors during quiet trading hours
Customer relationships
- Maintain the store’s customer record and conduct proactive contact: follow-ups, re-engagement, and notification when relevant stock arrives
- Hold the relationships with the store’s regular and highest value customers personally
- Request a Google review from satisfied customers at the point of collection
- Handle complaints and escalations at store level
Store operations
- Open and close the store, reconcile the till, and record daily figures
- Receive stock, coordinate transfers with head office, and report items customers requested that were unavailable
- Report daily on sales, footfall observations and customer feedback
The day
A typical day
- Before opening. Check the floor, displays, fitting rooms and stock. Count the till float. Brief the Fit Advisors on shift.
- Trading hours. Receive customers, conduct consultations, supervise the fitting room queue, and monitor the day’s conversion against target.
- Quiet hours. Allocate messaging work to Fit Advisors. Make proactive customer calls from the store’s customer record.
- Closing. Reconcile the till. Record the day’s revenue, buyers, walk-ins and average order value. Note stock gaps and unfulfilled customer requests.
- Weekly. Publish the next week’s roster. Conduct coaching with each Fit Advisor. Report the store’s review count.
Background
Who this role suits
Relevant experience, in order of preference:
- Store management or supervisory responsibility in a retail outlet
- Senior retail floor experience with responsibility for a team or a shift
- Retail sales in an environment where customer relationships matter more than transaction volume, including beauty counters, boutiques and fashion stores
- Management of a small business or a service outlet
At least one year working in a shop is required. We are not counting the months beyond that. Candidates who have supervised other staff will be prioritised.

What we look for
- At least one year of retail experience in a shop environment
- The ability to conduct a private fit consultation and make a customer comfortable discussing her body
- Experience supervising, correcting or developing other staff
- Comfort working to daily commercial targets and reporting against them
- Reliability. The store operates every day it is open and depends on the Store Associate being present.
- Working proficiency in Bangla, which is the operating language of the store

Reviewed monthly:
- Store revenue. Total monthly revenue for the store
- Conversion rate. Buyers divided by walk-ins
- Average order value. The average value of a sale in your store
- Google reviews. Reviews generated by the store each week
- Team performance. Conversion achieved by the store’s Fit Advisors
- Stock accuracy. Accuracy of stock records at each count

Senior grades carry higher pay, discussed directly at the point of promotion. These positions are filled internally. SHAPE is opening further stores, and Store Managers are appointed from this position.

Compensation and benefits

Is this the same job as Fit Advisor?
No. A Fit Advisor conducts consultations on shift. A Store Associate is the senior person at her store, works every day the store is open, leads two to three Fit Advisors, and is accountable for the store’s revenue, conversion rate and average order value. Store Associates also conduct consultations, to the standard they hold the team to.
How much retail experience do I need?
At least one year working in a shop is required. Beyond that we are not counting the months. Candidates who have supervised, corrected or developed other staff will be prioritised.
