The role
The job to be done
SHAPE runs a growing network of stores, an office, and an online store, serving a community of over 200,000 women. Money leaves the company every day. Salaries, rent, service charges, supplier payments, customer refunds, grocery, electricity.
Today that happens because two or three people remember to make it happen. This role exists so that it happens because one person owns the calendar and the calendar runs itself.
Purpose
Why this role exists
Every store we open adds a rent, a service charge, a point of sale, and more commission lines to calculate. That number keeps going up. The 3rd, the 7th and the 15th do not move.
The work
Responsibilities
The Calendar
Sixteen things, in three groups. Six things happen every month without fail. Three of them carry a fixed date, and the date is not negotiable.
- Prepare and submit the monthly VAT return so it is filed by the 15th, every month
- Get every rent and salary payment into the bank by the 3rd, so nobody has to chase it
- Clear the service charges for the office and every store by the 7th
- Work out what the month’s POS charges came to, across every store and every offline payment point
- Pull the monthly bKash statement into company records
- Pull the monthly SSLCommerce statement into company records
The Cash
Money moving out, correctly, to the right person.
- Work out what each Store Associate and Fit Advisor earned in commission, and get it paid
- Arrange the cash handover for the salaries and commissions of anyone without a bank account
- Settle the one off payments as they come up, by bank or cash: suppliers, the shipping agent, videographers, other vendors
- Release the weekly grocery budget
- Keep the office prepaid electricity and gas topped up before they run out
- Send customer refunds out through bKash
The Custody
The proof that all of the above happened.
- Keep the petty cash book, every taka in and every taka out, updated the same day
- Keep the paper invoices and receipts filed so any one of them can be found
- Pull bank statements for SHAPE’s accounts whenever they are needed
- Keep the company document file current: Trade Licence, TIN, BIN, and everything alongside them
Fit
Who this role suits
Bangla is fine throughout. You do not need English for this role.
This job is the same shape every month, and the repetition is the point. If you want variety, or a role where you decide each week what you work on, this is not the role.
Requirements
What we look for
Outcomes, not years. We are not counting the months.
- You have filed a VAT return yourself. Not assisted with one. Filed it.
- You have handled cash daily and closed a petty cash book that balanced.
- You can build a commission calculation in Excel or Google Sheets from a shift sheet and a sales report, and then explain that calculation to the person being paid.
- You are organised on paper, not only on a screen. A lot of this job is physical invoices in the right folder.
- You are comfortable being the person who says a payment cannot go out yet, because the paperwork is not there.

Performance measures
Three things are true, and all three are checkable:
- No VAT return was filed late.
- No salary, rent, or service charge was paid late.
- Any payment made in the last year can be traced to a document in under five minutes.
