Six Years of Building SHAPE Taught Me This About Fit
The short answer: Most bras are designed as if women's bodies never change. Ours change all the time. So the product should adapt to you, not the other way round. Six years of fittings taught me this.
This is Monoshita, founder of SHAPE. I started this brand in 2019 because of one frustration: bras in Bangladesh were not designed for the women wearing them. They were designed for a standard body that does not exist.
What six years showed me
After fitting over 200,000 women, the pattern is clear. Women's bodies change with weight, with hormones, with water before a period, with pregnancy, with age. The bra you bought six months ago may not be the bra you need today. That is normal. That is human.
So we build with stretch. Nylon-spandex fabric that moves with your body through the month instead of making you fit the product. We give every bra two to four hooks so the band follows you as the elastic relaxes and as your body shifts.
The three things I know now
- Fit is not one number. Your size is a range, not a fixed point. A good bra works across that range.
- Comfort is not a compromise. You should not have to choose between support and comfort. A well-designed bra gives both.
- The conversation matters. Most women have never had someone explain how a bra should fit. That five-minute conversation changes everything.

Why does SHAPE focus so much on fittings?
Because a good product in the wrong size is still a bad experience. The bra is only as good as the fit, and the fit starts with a measurement.
How has SHAPE changed since 2019?
We started with one bra in three sizes. Today we have more than a dozen styles, M to 5XL, in seven stores. But the core has not changed: fit first, product second.
What would you tell a woman who has never been fitted?
