How to Pack Bras for Travel Without Crushing Them
The short answer: Nest moulded bras cup-inside-cup, stuff socks or underwear inside the cups to hold their shape, and place them at the top of your bag where nothing heavy can press on them. Soft bras fold flat and tuck into gaps.
'I packed my favourite bra and it came out dented.' Moulded cups are the most common casualty of travel packing. The fix is simple, but most women only learn it after the damage is done.
Step by step: packing moulded bras
- Close the hooks. Open hooks snag fabric and stretch out other clothes.
- Nest the cups. Place one bra inside the other, cups aligned, like stacking bowls. Two or three bras nest into one compact unit.
- Stuff the cups. Fill each cup with rolled socks, underwear, or a small scarf. This holds the dome shape from the inside.
- Place on top. Bras go at the top of your bag, on top of folded clothes, never buried at the bottom.
Soft bras and bralettes
These have no moulded cups, so they fold flat without damage. Roll or fold them and tuck them into corners or shoe gaps. They are the easiest bras to travel with.
How many bras to pack
| Trip length | Bras to pack | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Weekend (2 to 3 days) | 2 | One to wear, one to rest |
| One week | 3 | Rotate daily, hand-wash mid-trip |
| Two weeks or more | 3 to 4 | Same rotation, plan one wash cycle |
Washing bras while travelling
Hand-wash in cool water with a small amount of mild soap. Squeeze gently, do not wring. Roll in a towel to remove water, then air-dry flat on a clean surface. Most nylon-spandex bras dry overnight in a ventilated room. See our full bra washing guide.
Questions women ask us
Can I use a bra travel case?
Yes. A hard-shell bra case is the safest option for moulded cups. If you do not have one, the nesting method above works just as well.
Should I pack different bras for different outfits?
Pack by function, not by outfit. One everyday seamless bra, one for sleeping or lounging, and one for any occasion or event. That covers most trips. See our bra wardrobe guide for which styles to prioritise.
What if my bra gets crushed anyway?
Fill the dented cup with a rolled towel and leave it for a few hours. The foam usually bounces back. If the dent stays, the cup may be permanently creased. Storing bras properly at home prevents this. See our storage guide.
